How to Safely Install Drivers on Your Computer
We are all aware that hardware devices do not work immediately as soon as you take them out of the box and plug them into your computer. You also need to install the driver, which usually comes in a CD-ROM, that goes with the gadget. Basically, the driver is the program that tells the device what to do. It serves as the “middleman” between the computer’s operating system and its peripherals.
Installing device drivers can be easy. However, you should remember to be careful because equipping your PC with wrong software can bring a lot of trouble to your machine. To install the driver for a new device, all you have to do is to insert the disc containing the software and follow the installation wizard. Some operating systems, particularly Microsoft Windows, on the other hand, are bundled with various device drivers. They automatically install the driver once you attach a new hardware device to your computer.
Meanwhile, to manually reinstall a driver to your computer, first you must log on to your PC as an administrator. If you are using Windows, go to the Control Panel and open the device manager. It will show you the list of hardware devices that are currently connected to your computer. Then right click on the gadget with the corrupted driver that you want to remove by clicking the “uninstall” option. Do not forget to restart your computer once the process is completed. After rebooting your PC, windows should detect the hardware and proceed with the installation of the device driver.
